Connect a CNC Machine
FEAI Machine Monitor connects to supported CNC machines using MTConnect. Your machine must provide accessible MTConnect data through an MTConnect Agent or compatible MTConnect endpoint.
Step 1 — Confirm MTConnect data is available
Make sure the CNC provides accessible MTConnect data. Depending on the machine and existing infrastructure, this may be an existing MTConnect Agent, an MTConnect-compatible endpoint, or an adapter/configuration that exposes the machine's data through MTConnect.
Step 2 — Identify the endpoint on the shop network
Typical information may include:
- IP address
- Port
- Path (optional; leave blank for root)
Many MTConnect installations use port 5000, but the correct port depends on the shop's configuration.
Step 3 — Open FEAI Machine Monitor
Install and open the Windows desktop app. Sign in. You can use Demo Shop offline while confirming live endpoints.
Step 4 — Enter IP, Port, and Path
On the CONNECT tab, enter the endpoint provided by your shop's machine/network configuration. Optionally use Scan LAN for a read-only local probe — it may not find every CNC.
Step 5 — Diagnose Connection
Click Diagnose Connection. FEAI performs a read-only HTTP probe. It does not write to CNC machines.
Step 6 — Add Machine
If the endpoint responds and provides supported machine data, click Add Machine.
What the diagnostics mean
No MTConnect Endpoint Found
FEAI could not connect to an MTConnect endpoint at the address provided. Check IP, port, path, network connectivity, firewall rules, MTConnect Agent availability, and machine-side configuration.
MTConnect Endpoint Responded
The endpoint responded, but FEAI could not identify a supported machine/device in the returned data. Check the MTConnect configuration and available device/data items.
MTConnect Connection Ready
FEAI successfully reached the MTConnect endpoint and found machine data. Review the detected device and available data, then Add Machine.
Need help connecting?
FEAI Machine Monitor includes connection diagnostics to help identify common MTConnect/network issues. For machine-side configuration or controller changes, your CNC service provider, controls integrator, or qualified shop IT/automation personnel may need to assist.
